Description

Caranx crysos reaches 70 cm. Slender blue-green dorsal side, yellow-green flanks, silver belly. Yellow forked caudal fin. Lives in dense schools from 0 to 100 m on both sides of tropical to warm-temperate Atlantic, from Nova Scotia to Brazil and Portugal to Angola, occasional Mediterranean. Fast pelagic predator, attacks sardine schools. Often seen at surface and mid-water diving Azores, Canaries. Signature species appearing in circular formation over pinnacles.
