Trachinotus falcatus reaches 122 cm and 36 kg. Large pompano with high compact laterally compressed uniform silver body, very forked elongated tail (hence falcatus, sickle-shaped). Adults more uniformly silvery, juveniles rounder. Lives in schools or solitary from 0 to 36 m on coral reefs, sand and shallow flats of Caribbean and tropical western Atlantic. Mythical trophy of fly fishing on flats (Bahamas, Belize, Mexico). Crustacean predator. Electric diving encounter.
