Description

Haemulon parra reaches 40 cm. Silver to beige grunt with scales outlined in dark borders forming characteristic diagonal pattern on flanks, tail with small black spot. Juveniles with more marked black longitudinal bar that fades in adults. Lives in schools from 1 to 40 m on coral reefs and sands of Caribbean. Listed LC. More discreet than cousins flavolineatum and plumierii. Photo subject of nocturnal coral dives in calm pose.
