Description

Pomadasys rogerii reaches 50 cm. Tropical East Atlantic haemulid with elongated silver body with very numerous small scattered black spots on flanks (hence pigsnout). Distribution Mauritania to Angola, rarer in Canaries and Cape Verde. Lives in schools from 1 to 60 m on sands, river mouths and coastal seagrass of West Africa. Local commercial fishery. More discreet than P. incisus, less photogenic. Macro photo subject for African haemulid purists.
