Description

Plectorhinchus vittatus reaches 72 cm. Massive white body crossed by 6 to 9 distinct longitudinal black bands, yellow fins and tail with black spots. Forms tight schools remaining motionless under coral overhangs and in caves by day, dispersing at night to hunt invertebrates on sand. Juveniles very different: white-spotted on black, mimicking toxic flatworms. From 2 to 25 m, Indo-Pacific.
