Plectorhinchus macrolepis reaches 60 cm. Tropical East Atlantic sweetlips with silver to bronze-brown body with distinctive large scales (hence macrolepis), fleshy prominent lips. Lives in schools or solitary from 5 to 120 m on rocky reefs of Senegalese, Guinean, Angolan coasts. Less common and less studied than P. mediterraneus. Listed DD by IUCN. Nocturnal predator of crustaceans and small fish. Discreet photo subject for African Haemulidae collection.
