Cephalopholis nigri reaches 35 cm. Small endemic Cephalopholis grouper in tropical East Atlantic (Senegal, Cape Verde, Guinea to Angola). Red-orange to red-brown body covered with small black-ringed electric blue spots similar to other Cephalopholis. Lives from 5 to 100 m on rocky reefs of West African coasts. Territorial predator. Protogynous hermaphrodite. Cousin of C. taeniops (Macaronesia batch 10) but tropical East Atlantic endemic. Photo subject for Cape Verde and Senegal dives.
