Description

Amphiprion clarkii reaches 15 cm. Anemonefish with extraordinary polymorphism depending on host anemone: from entirely yellow-orange body to entirely black, always with 3 vertical white bands thinly edged with black on head, body and tail. Yellow or white tail. Tolerates 10 different host anemones, Amphiprion record. Lives from 1 to 55 m on coral reefs of western to central Indo-Pacific (Red Sea to Melanesia). Territorial. Iconic photo subject, notable for its palette.
