Forms very large dense clouds above and within shallow branching Acropora and Pocillopora corals, taking shelter in the branches at the slightest threat. Indo-Pacific tropical, very common on healthy reefs. From 1 to 12 m. Iconic visual signature of thriving tropical reefs.
