Description

Seriola lalandi reaches 2.5 m and 80 kg. Large pelagic amberjack distributed in Eastern Pacific temperate to tropical and southern hemisphere (New Zealand, South Africa, Australia, Chile, California). Silver fusiform body with blue-green back and distinctive golden-yellow lateral band crossing eye. Lives in imposing schools or solitary from 3 to 830 m in open water around pinnacles, seamounts and wrecks. Fast predator of small pelagics. Important sport fishery and aquaculture. Electric diving encounters in Galapagos, Socorro, New Zealand.
