Description

Diplodus bellottii reaches 25 cm. Small tropical East Atlantic seabream with silver body with several diffuse dark vertical bars on flanks and characteristic black ring on caudal peduncle. Distribution Mauritania to Cape Verde and Guinea. Lives in schools from 0 to 50 m on sand, seagrass and coastal rocky areas. Tropical cousin of numerous Mediterranean Diplodus (D. annularis batch 15, D. sargus, D. puntazzo batch 15). Local artisanal fishery. Discreet photo subject in coastal schools.
