Description

Pagrus pagrus reaches 91 cm and 10 kg. Imposing sea bream silvery-pink to light red with blue reflections on back, powerful canine-like teeth for crushing shells. Lives from 10 to 250 m on rocks and shell sands of East Atlantic, Mediterranean and West Atlantic. Protogynous hermaphrodite. Listed EN in Atlantic following stock collapse. In Macaronesia, one of the iconic and popular spearfishing catches. Highly prized flesh.
