Description

Diplodus annularis reaches 22 cm. Small Mediterranean and East Atlantic seabream with uniform silver body with very distinctive black ring or band surrounding caudal peduncle (hence annularis), yellowish pectorals and fins. Lives in schools from 1 to 90 m on Posidonia seagrass and shallow rocky bottoms. Protandric hermaphrodite. Predator of small invertebrates. Commercial and amateur fishery. Discreet photo subject in cohesive schools on seagrass.
