Description

Pomacanthus zonipectus reaches 46 cm. Large Eastern Pacific angelfish with dark blue-gray body crossed by alternating golden-yellow and silver-white thinner vertical bands, yellow tail. Spectacular juveniles black with 4 highly contrasting electric blue and yellow vertical bands. Lives from 5 to 35 m on rocky and coral reefs from Gulf of California to Peru. Opportunistic omnivore. Iconic photo subject of Sea of Cortez and Pacific Mexico dives.
