Description

Pomacanthus arcuatus reaches 60 cm. Large Caribbean angelfish with uniform anthracite-gray to black body with paler-edged scales giving distinctive scaly appearance, rounded tail. Spectacular juveniles black with 4-5 bright yellow vertical bands. Lives in faithful pairs from 2 to 30 m on coral reefs of Caribbean and tropical western Atlantic. Close cousin of P. paru (already in base), more silvery. Omnivore (sponges, algae, attached organisms). Iconic photo subject especially in pair.
