Description

Lutjanus synagris reaches 60 cm. Salmon-pink body with fine golden-yellow horizontal lines, ocher fins. Forms small schools on Caribbean reefs and seagrass, more gregarious than L. analis. Ubiquitous: from 2 m on flats to 400 m on slopes. Significant commercial and artisanal fishery across the Caribbean, IUCN Near Threatened. Juveniles use mangroves as nursery.
