Description

Ocyurus chrysurus, the yellowtail snapper, reaches 86 cm. Slender silver-blue body dotted with yellow spots, wide vivid yellow band and tail that make it instantly recognizable. Pelagic: unlike other benthic snappers, hunts in midwater schools above reefs. Omnivorous, chases fish and cephalopods. Highly prized in Caribbean sport and commercial fisheries.
