Description

Lutjanus analis reaches 94 cm and 14 kg. Elongated silver to olive body with fine orange-red horizontal lines, prominent black spot just before the caudal peduncle. Solitary, warier than its cousins, frequents Caribbean reefs, seagrass and wrecks between 5 and 95 m. Predator of small fish and cephalopods. Populations declining from overfishing, IUCN Near Threatened. Prized sport fishing trophy.
