Description

Limanda limanda reaches 40 cm. Very common small flatfish (Pleuronectidae) Northeast Atlantic. Right-eyed flat yellow-brown to green-brown body with distinctly curved very marked lateral line (identification feature). Lives from 1 to 150 m on sand and soft bottoms of Northeast Atlantic, English Channel, North Sea, Bay of Biscay. Very important commercial fishery. Accessible wide-angle photo subject of Northeast Atlantic sandy dives.
