Description

Gobius geniporus reaches 16 cm. Mediterranean goby with stocky beige-brown marbled body with characteristic oblique dark lines on cheeks, dark punctations on flanks. Lives from 5 to 50 m on rocky and sandy bottoms of Mediterranean. Deeper than other Gobius, less common. Predator of small invertebrates. Discreet macro photo subject for Mediterranean Gobiidae enthusiasts. Relatively understudied species.
