Description

Dentex gibbosus reaches 107 cm and 15 kg. Large silvery-pink to purplish seabream with very marked frontal bump on mature males (hence humped name), elongated body more slender than Dentex dentex. Impressive canine-like teeth. Lives from 20 to 300 m on rocky drop-offs and coralligenous of East Atlantic, Mediterranean, Macaronesia. Predator of fish and cephalopods. One of the finest encounters of deep Macaronesian dives.
