Indo-Pacific shrimpgoby distinctive by its extremely high pointed first dorsal fin tinged yellow-orange with highly contrasting blue-black ocellus (hence Randall's Flagtail shrimpgoby). Cream-white body with 6-7 thin red-orange transverse bands. Lives commensally with Alpheus. Deeper and more discreet than A. guttata and wheeleri. Lives from 10 to 50 m on sand. Trophy macro photo subject for its flag-like dorsal. Named after John E. Randall, prolific ichthyologist of coral reef fish.
