Description

Tridacna derasa reaches 60 cm. Large bivalve with intense red-orange body. Giant clam, zooxanthellae symbiosis. Sessile in coral lagoon. Mixed filter-photosynthesis feeding. Indo-Pacific tropical lagoons, 5-30 m depth. VU (IUCN) - historical overfishing.
