Pseudanthias evansi reaches 12 cm. Indo-West Pacific anthias (Indian Ocean: Maldives, Seychelles, Mozambique) with orange-gold body with yellow-purple back and distinctive metallic purple-blue belly. Terminal males more colorful with white markings. Protogynous hermaphrodite. Lives in dense schools from 10 to 60 m on deep coral drop-offs of Indian Ocean. Indian Ocean endemic cousin of Pacific Pseudanthias. Wide-angle photo subject of Maldives and Seychelles dives.
