Macrodactyla doreensis reaches 50 cm diameter. Large Indo-Pacific anemone (Actiniidae) with pleated central disc pink-orange to magenta to yellow-green, distinctive very long thin tentacles (hence macrodactyla, long fingers), often beige-gray to blue-purple with lighter tips. Lives from 3 to 30 m on sandy bottoms and Indo-Pacific coral reefs. Semi-buried in sand, only retracts its disc. Hosts symbiotic clownfish (mainly Amphiprion perideraion, A. clarkii) and shrimp (Periclimenes). Classic Indo-Pacific dive photo subject, iconic anemone-clownfish composition.
