Description

Anemonia viridis reaches 15 cm across with tentacles extended. Fluorescent green oral disc from symbiotic zooxanthellae, long tentacles with purple or pink tips. Lives on shallow rocks and in Mediterranean tide pools. Hosts the goby Gobius bucchichi which lives protected among the tentacles. Moderate urticating sting. One of the most iconic photo subjects of the Mediterranean.
