Description

Laminaria digitata reaches 4 m. Oarweed, cylindrical stipe and frond divided into 5-10 characteristic blades (fingers). Distribution: North Atlantic coasts (Brittany, Scotland, Scandinavia). Very exposed rocky zone, resists storms. Least threatened = LC. Historic French species from Brittany, exploited since antiquity.
