Description

Exallias brevis reaches 15 cm. Blenny (Blenniidae) Indo-Pacific with stocky gray-white body covered with distinctive large black-brown spots in leopard pattern (hence leopard blenny), small head. Characteristic comb teeth adapted to grazing polyps of hard corals (mainly Pocillopora), unique behavior. Lives from 1 to 20 m on healthy coral reefs of entire Indo-Pacific. Coral health bioindicator. Macro photo subject for graphic pattern. Only Exallias species worldwide.
