Description
Dascyllus aruanus reaches 10 cm. Small stocky white fish marked with three characteristic wide vertical black bands, translucent tail and fins. Lives in small groups tightly associated with Acropora or Stylophora coral heads, into which they retreat at the slightest threat. Very territorial: males actively guard eggs laid on coral. From 1 to 20 m, Indo-Pacific. One of the most common reef fishes.
