Description

Cotylorhiza tuberculata owes its nickname to its bulging yellow bell resembling an egg yolk, fringed with purple and white appendages. 15 to 40 cm. Sting almost nil: safe to encounter. Found in warm Mediterranean waters in summer. Often hosts small juvenile fish that shelter among its tentacles. Iconic of the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian seas.
