Description

Turbinaria reniformis reaches 3 m colony. Hard coral forming yellow-green to orange foliaceous laminae superposing like tiles or rosette (hence lettuce coral or scroll coral). Very small and numerous polyps on upper leaf surface. Lives from 1 to 30 m on exposed and semi-sheltered reefs of entire Indo-Pacific. Listed VU by IUCN. Very recognizable structure forming key habitats for small fish and invertebrates. Appreciated wide-angle photo subject for texture and colors.
