Description

Sphyraena qenie reaches 1.7 m. Large barracuda (Sphyraenidae) Indo-Pacific tropical with elongated fusiform body silvery to bluish-gray with multiple dark V-shaped chevrons on flanks (species characteristic), long head with prominent lower jaw, sharp teeth. Lives from 5 to 50 m on coral reefs and passes. Forms spectacular dense schools counting hundreds of individuals spiraling, famous sites at Maldives, Sipadan, Red Sea. Trophy dive photo subject for school compositions.
