Description

Sphyraena jello reaches 1.5 m. Elongated silver body with oblique dark chevrons, sharp teeth characteristic of barracudas. Unlike often-solitary S. barracuda, S. jello forms very dense schools that organize into spiraled tornadoes above reefs by day, an iconic sight in Philippines (Puerto Galera), Sabah and Indonesia dives. Hunts dispersed at night. From 10 to 200 m.
