Description

Raja microocellata reaches 90 cm. Ray (Rajidae) Northeast temperate Atlantic mainly Brittany, UK and Bay of Biscay. Flat yellow-brown to green-brown body with distinctive small dorsal ocelli (dark rings with pale center, hence microocellata). Lives from 10 to 150 m on coastal sand and soft bottoms. Listed NT by IUCN. Moderate commercial fishery (small-eyed ray). Wide-angle photo subject of Brittany and UK dives.
