Description

Octopus mototi reaches 35 cm. Brown-red octopus with distinctive electric blue ocelli on body and arm base (resembles Hapalochlaena but larger and less dangerous), variable patterns according to mood. Lives from 1 to 30 m on sand and coral reefs of central Indo-Pacific. Has some TTX like other ringed octopus but less concentrated, considered moderately venomous. Spectacular macro photo subject but to handle cautiously.
