Description

Molva macrophthalma reaches 1.05 m. Deep ling (Gadidae, Lotidae) Northeast temperate Atlantic with elongated gray-brown to yellow-brown body with distinctly large eyes (hence macrophthalma). Lives from 200 to 1000 m on continental slopes of Northeast Atlantic, western Mediterranean. Listed DD by IUCN, poorly studied. Moderate commercial fishery. Rarer and more discreet than M. molva and M. dypterygia.
