Description

Molva dypterygia reaches 1.55 m. Ling (Gadidae, Lotidae) Northeast temperate boreal Atlantic with elongated more uniform blue-gray to blue-brown body than M. molva, two well-distinct dorsal fins (hence dypterygia, two fins). Lives from 350 to 1500 m deep on continental slopes and deep rocky drop-offs of Northeast Atlantic. Listed DD by IUCN. Deep industrial commercial fishery. Rare recreational diving photo subject due to exceptional depth.
