Kyphosus vaigiensis reaches 70 cm. Circumtropical Kyphosus (Indo-Pacific, tropical Atlantic, Eastern Pacific). High oval gray-blue to gray-green body with several distinctive thin longitudinal golden-yellow lines on flanks. Lives in schools from 1 to 30 m around emerged rocks, buoys and rocky drop-offs in global tropics. Herbivore grazing algae. Cousin of tropical East Atlantic Kyphosus (not yet in base for its African population) and Macaronesia (K. sectatrix batch 10). Local commercial fishery. Wide-angle photo subject for schools.
