Description

Kyphosus sectatrix reaches 76 cm. Oval silver gray-blue to gray-green body with fine yellowish horizontal lines, small head and terminal mouth. Lives in schools from 0 to 30 m around rocks, buoys and drop-offs of Azores, Madeira, Canaries, Caribbean and western Atlantic. Herbivore grazing algae. Spectacular large schools on isolated rocks and wrecks. Warm-temperate circum-Atlantic species.
