Description

Enchelycore anatina reaches 120 cm. Spectacular moray with yellow-fawn to orange body marbled with brown-black spots and yellow-circled blue spots, long sharp curved teeth visible outside mouth (canine-shaped) preventing complete closure. Characteristic tubular nostrils. Lives from 5 to 70 m on drop-offs and caves of Azores, Madeira, Canaries, West Africa, eastern Mediterranean. Active nocturnal predator. One of the most photogenic morays worldwide, signature of Canary dives.
