Conus textile reaches 15 cm. Very distinctive conical shell with mosaic patterns of brown, ochre and white triangles (hence textile), orange-purple interior. Lives from 1 to 30 m on sand and coral reefs of tropical Indo-Pacific. Listed LC. Active nocturnal predator of other mollusks (cone-eater). Very dangerous: venomous harpoon (modified radula) propelled like an arrow, paralyzing conotoxin with documented human fatalities (up to 70% mortality without treatment).
