Description

Carcharhinus perezii reaches 3 m. Endemic reef shark (Carcharhinidae) of tropical West Atlantic (Florida, Bahamas, Caribbean, Brazil) with fusiform body gray-brown to bronze-brown on back and white on belly, moderately rounded snout. Lives from 5 to 100 m on coral reefs and drop-offs. IUCN Endangered due to fin fishing. Iconic Caribbean dive photo subject, famous in shark feeding sites (Bahamas) where it is observed in groups of 10-20 individuals. Harmless to respectful divers.
