Description

Negaprion acutidens reaches 3.8 m. Large shark (Carcharhinidae) Indo-Pacific tropical with massive body yellow-brown to olive-brown with lighter belly, two nearly equal-sized dorsal fins (genus characteristic), short rounded snout, fine triangular teeth. Lives from 1 to 92 m on coral reefs, lagoons and coastal sandy bottoms. Calmer than other large sharks. IUCN Vulnerable. Iconic dive photo subject of French Polynesia, Maldives and Red Sea, observation possible in resting groups on sand (Moorea, Bora Bora).
