Description

Robust coastal shark (130-240 cm) with dark grey back and white underside. Pointed dorsal fin and dark pectoral fin edges are diagnostic. Tropical reef habitats Indo-Pacific and West Atlantic at 1-800 m depth. Aggressive territorial predator, often solitary. Conservation: vulnerable to overfishing. Diving: common in Egypt, Polynesia, Pacific; unpredictable behaviour.
