Flatfish (Bothidae) East Pacific from Gulf of California to Peru with oval beige to sand-brown body with leopard-type round dark spots spread across entire body (hence leopardinus), both eyes on left side. Lives from 1 to 75 m on sandy bottoms and near rocky reefs. Efficient camouflage. Sea of Cortez and Costa Rica dive photo subject for its distinctive pattern, smaller cousin of B. mancus.
