Description

Acanthemblemaria spinosa reaches 4 cm. Tiny blenny with a head adorned with spiny cirri, elongated body rarely visible: lives in a hole bored by former worms or echinoderms in coral, letting only its head protrude. Defends its hole lifelong, usually on Caribbean live corals between 1 and 30 m. Appreciated macro subject for its accessible sedentary behavior. Males with dark throat in display.
