Description

Sargassum filipendula reaches 80 cm. Atlantic benthic brown alga, light filamentous morphology. Shallow rocky zones. Western Atlantic distribution (North America, Caribbean). Less invasive than S. muticum. Least threatened = LC. Native Atlantic alga important refuge for small coastal organisms.
