Description

Coenobita brevimanus reaches 5 cm. Terrestrial hermit crab (Coenobitidae) from Indo-Pacific tropics. Brown-gray, notably short claws (hence name). Inhabitant of coastal seagrass-sandy zones 0-3 m. Diurnal-sedentary. Solitary-gregarious depending on resources. Minimally commercialized = LC. Rarely seen in aquariums.
