Description

Chelon labrosus reaches 75 cm. Recognizable by its thick characteristic upper lip. Silver body with a blue-grey back, discreet longitudinal lines. Very tolerant of salinity changes, frequently ascending estuaries and brackish waters. Forms surface schools. Detritivore. Common on European Atlantic coasts (Brittany, British Isles) and in the Mediterranean.
