Bathytoshia centroura (formerly Dasyatis centroura) reaches 2.6 m width. Very large stingray (Dasyatidae) East and West Atlantic temperate to tropical with rhomboidal disc uniformly olive-brown to black-brown above and white below, very long rough tail covered with conical spines (hence centroura) and bearing a long venomous sting. Lives from 10 to 250 m on sandy and rocky bottoms. One of the largest stingrays in the world. IUCN Vulnerable. Impressive dive photo subject, observed in Mediterranean and East Atlantic.
